"And above all watch with glittering eyes the world around you, because the greatest secrets are always hidden in the most unlikely places. Those who don't believe in magic will never find it." - Roald Dahl

2013 - My Writing Year

What a truly wonderfully topsy-turvy year 2013 has been. This year I can honestly say is the year that I made the biggest strides in my writing career in my entire life.

I finished my very first novel and I’m currently two-thirds of the way with the second. I’ve participated in writing competitions. I’ve submitted my manuscript to a number of publishers (with a total of three rejections so far, I might add). I attended an Indie book launch with a trio of authors from my writing group. I’m involved with our group anthology called Storm. (You’ll hear more about it next year). And I attempted NaNoWrimo again this year. I only managed 22 516 words, but whose counting. Oh, that’s right – everyone. In any case, I’m satisfied. That’s 22 516 more words than I had at the beginning of November. And, of course, I started this blog. Wow. No wonder I’m exhausted!

I have to say that had it not been for my membership to the Pretoria Writers’ Group, about 50% of what I’ve done would never have materialised. So a huge shout-out goes to Lizette, Vanessa, Rob, Natalie, Micelle, Annemarie and Charmain for a fantastic writing year!

On a personal note, my family and I participated in the wonderful Santa Shoebox Project again this year. If you’re not a participant, have a look at their website and see if it’s something you may like to take part in for 2014.

To everyone who has read my blogs this year, I would like to say a massive thank you! 2014 is already looking like a better year blog-wise, now that I’m getting the hang of it, and I am looking forward to more reader interaction in the coming year.

To everyone celebrating Christmas, may the Peace, Love and Joy of this Season be with you and your loved ones. Have a very Merry Christmas and a Prosperous New Year!

See you all next year!
